Design for Good: A Creative Collaboration with The Red Pencil Singapore

At ID21, we believe that it is our values that define our organisation and drive our success. They make us who we are and they manifest in everything that we do. One of these values is “People First”, where we aim to improve the well-being of others and create a positive outcome and impact in everything that we undertake as a team.

In 2021, we had the opportunity to give back to the community by contributing our expertise, time and effort through a meaningful partnership with non-profit organisation The Red Pencil (Singapore) for their new Creative Arts Therapy Centre in Redhill.

An ID21 team comprising designers, project managers, quantity surveyors and mechanical and electrical engineers provided pro-bono design and consultancy services to The Red Pencil (Singapore), which works with schools, foster homes, family service centres and health-related associations to introduce creative arts therapy to children and low-income families in Singapore. We also rallied the support of our vendors for sponsorships and discounted rates for the build materials.

ID21 The Red Pencil Singapore Creative Conversations

With the official opening of the Creative Arts Therapy Centre in June 2022, we invited Ms Yoko Choi, Programme Manager and in-house Registered Art Therapist at The Red Pencil (Singapore) to our office at Great World City for a fireside chat. The hybrid event also marked the launch of Creative Conversations, ID21’s inaugural teatime speaker series for employees.

Yoko was joined by our very own Associate Design Director Eddy Tan, who was the design lead and main coordinator for the Creative Arts Therapy Centre project. They shared their personal takeaways from this memorable experience, and concurred that the biggest satisfaction was being able to co-create a permanent creative space for self-expression through art therapy, and support the emotional well-being of others.

We look forward to connecting with more like-minded individuals and entities on this continuous journey of doing good. Connect with us if you have a project in mind!
